The advisor for educational, cultural and research affairs Hujjat ul Islam Muhammad Sadiq Kafeel gave an interview to correspondent of Shabestan news agency. During the interview he explained how the character of a Muntazir can play a part in preaching the ideology of Mehdaviat.
Muntazir means a person who has been waiting for the appearance of Hazrat Imam Mehdi (AS).
In Islamic eschatology, Imam Mehdi (AS) is the prophesied redeemer of Islam who will rule the world before the Day of Judgment (the Day of Resurrection) and will rid the world of evil.
According to Islamic tradition, the tenure of Hazrat Imam Mehdi (AS) will coincide with the Second Coming of Prophet Isa (Jesus), who is to assist the Hazrat Imam Mehdi (AS) against the Masih ad-Dajjal (literally, the "false Messiah" or Antichrist). Differences exist in the concept of the Imam Mehdi (AS) between Shia Muslims and adherents of the Sunni tradition. For Sunnis, Imam Mehdi (AS) is the Muslims future leader who is yet to come. For most Shia Muslims, Hazrat Imam Mehdi (AS) was born but disappeared and will remain hidden from humanity until he reappears to bring justice to the world, a doctrine known as the Occultation. For Twelver Shia, this "hidden Imam" is Hazrat Imam Muhammad Al Mehdi (AS), the Twelfth Imam.
A Muntazir is a person who feels his duties about the religion and a person who tries to follow the footsteps of Hazrat Imam Mehdi (AS). He further said that a Muntazir person avoids performing sins.
Hujjat ul Islam Kafeel emphasized on the need of praying for the appearance of Hazrat Imam Mehdi (AS). He said that a part of our life should be dedicated for praying for the appearance of Hazrat Imam Mehdi (AS).
