Millions of Muslims commemorate Eid al-Mab’ath worldwide

Shabestan news agency:To commemorate the revered occasion, Iranians hold celebrations in Tehran and other cities on Tuesday, which falls on the 27th of the month of Rajab on the Islamic lunar calendar.

Iran’s 34th Int’l Quran Contest Gets Underway
Shabestan news agency:Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani officiated the ceremony at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall).

A number of other political, religious, Quranic and cultural officials were also present at the function, which began with recitation of verses from the Quran by Iranian internationally-known Qari Seyed Javad Hosseini, followed by playing the country’s national anthem.

Head of Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi was the first speaker at the event.

He underlined that it is the first time an Islamic country holds five international Quran competition simultaneously.

He was referring to the main contest and four other international Quran competitions which are held for women, the visually-impaired, school students and seminary students.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi noted that there will be a number of programs on the sidelines of the competitions, including an international Quranic studies conference titled "Quran and Culture of Revolution”.

Larijani, the keynote speaker, in his address elaborated on the sublime status of the Quran and said it is the book that guides to the best path.

He added that in all circumstances, Muslims should refer to the Holy Quran for guidance.

The five international competitions will be underway at the Mosalla until Tuesday.

More than 270 Quran activists from 83 countries have attended the international Quranic event.
