Transparent presidential elections is a sign of honor for Iranians
Political: The Expediency Council Chairman Ali Akbar Velayati said the transparent Iranian election is a sign of the Iranian nation's honor and dignity

Ali Akbar Velayati said in the system of vilayat-e-faqih common people have the primary and key importance. They select their president after every four years. He added people should show their symbol of honor and dignity to the whole world by actively participating in the presidential elections. People should maximize the voting turnover in the presidential elections. All the great leaders of Iran Ayatollah Imam Khomeini and Supreme leader and the leader of Muslims Ayatollah Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei urged the public to always actively participate in the elections. It is noteworthy that this week will be the polling day for the Iranian presidential election on Friday which would make Iran's president for four years using voting. Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Iran on 19 May 2017. This will be the twelfth presidential election in Iran. Local elections will also be held alongside this election. Any Iranian citizen, and is above 18 years of age may register as a presidential candidate. An institution called the Election Monitoring Agency (EMA) and managed by the Guardian Council vets registered candidates (in the 2009 election 36,000 people signed up as candidates) and approves a handful to run in the election.
